Principal's Address

 Karen Patton, Principal

As Principal and on behalf of Deputy Principal Ms Lynette Woods and the hardworking and dedicated staff and Board of Management, I would like to welcome you to our website. We hope that it helps you learn about our vibrant and caring school community here in St. Louis Secondary School and that it provides you with a flavour of the school’s history, ethos and our aspirations for the students who make this school such a happy, open and stimulating community.

St. Louis is a catholic secondary school and has been a leader in the education of young women since the 1880’s. We inherited a great tradition of high standards in a caring environment from the Sisters of St. Louis and now continue this work under the trusteeship of the Le Chéile Schools Trust.

In St. Louis we place great value on faith formation and the nurturing of spirituality. We pride ourselves on providing a holistic education, whereby each student is encouraged to develop her talents and achieve her full potential, while never losing sight of the core values of courtesy, respect and concern for others as well as care for the environment we live in. Students are challenged through a wide range of activities and opportunities but above all, girls are recognised and valued as individuals.

We offer a comprehensive curriculum that includes Junior Cycle, Transition Year, the Leaving Certificate, the Leaving Certificate Applied Programme and Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme. We are committed to excellence in academic, cultural, creative and sporting pursuits, and to active partnerships between staff and pupils, school and home. Our state examination results reflect the school’s high academic standards and the importance we place on teaching and learning, thanks to the constant dedication and commitment of staff, the partnership of parents, and the support of the wider school community.

Most parents facing the choice of choosing a secondary school for their child feel that it is one of the most crucial decisions they will ever have to make. If you are viewing this website to help you make such a decision, we thank you for your interest in our school. Of course, this website cannot take the place of visiting our school, so we warmly welcome you to contact us to arrange a visit, and discover first-hand what makes a St. Louis secondary education so special.

Finally, as principal and as a past student, I am delighted to be leading the school forward, building on the tremendous achievements of its past and becoming part of its unfolding and exciting future.
